Activities For Family Bonding – 6 Ways To Bind You Together
Looking for some cool activities for family bonding? Here are 6 ways to bind your family together forever.
Let’s chat about activities for family bonding.
Do you recognise that your family would benefit from having more family bonding activities together? If so, you are in exactly the right place!
We all know that routines are great for keeping your days running smoothly but did you know you can establish simple routines to help strengthen your family bond?
Your family can definitely grow closer and reinforce its bond by following these simple routines.
Thankfully these activities are easy to incorporate into your family life and can be adjusted to fit your needs. Yay!
Here are six routines and rituals to help your family connect on a daily basis:
ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILY BONDING
1 – Find simple things to do together that don’t take much time.
It isn’t always easy to find time to spend together as a family, but you can consider creating and setting up routines that help.
Look at your schedule and find a short time to add simple rituals to the day when you’re together.
- For example, you could pray or read books together before bed. This doesn’t have to end when they are little. I used to read novels side by side with my kids even when they were older (seriously my favorite thing to do – I LOVE READING!)
- Maybe your family would enjoy sharing a favorite joke or story during dinner. Or playing some loud music while washing the dishes. Or going for a walk after dinner. Or having a set night to play a board game or cards.

2 – Eat breakfast together.
The morning can be a hectic time for families as everyone still needs to get ready for school or work.
However, breakfast is an easy opportunity to eat together.
- It may be tempting to let everyone grab a quick meal or drink and rush out the door in the morning.
- However, you’re missing the chance to spend time together as a family and create a simple routine. If it’s possible see if you can squeeze it in.
- Breakfast doesn’t have to be complicated, so you can prepare easy items such as bagels or cereal. By having these items ready before your family wakes up, you can encourage them to eat together.
- You may have to adjust the family’s schedule for this routine, but you’ll be creating some great memories of being together as the day begins.

3 – Make lunch box notes.
Simple rituals such as lunch box notes for every member of the family can also help you bond.
- Children and adults alike both love the surprise of a sweet note in their lunchbox. Use small note cards or sticky notes to write an encouraging message. You can also draw pictures or include jokes. I used to have so much fun with this when my kids were little.
- Lunch box notes can become a family tradition that lasts for years. Keep it going for as long as you can!

4 – Create a secret family handshake.
Make up a special handshake that only you and your family use.
I know this is weird and quirky but I promise, the kids will love it and you’ll make a special connection with your loved one each time you use it.
I also love the idea of having a secret code word for you family that indicates when you have had enough.
So just by saying the word, everyone understands that it might be soon time to go home.

ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILY BONDING
5 – Make movie night special.
Replicate the feeling of being in a movie theater by getting popcorn popped, candy ready, and turning off the lights.
You can even grab a flashlight and use it to find your way during intermission, or rearrange the furniture and add chairs for a movie theater experience.
In my house we have rearranged the couches in one of the rooms so that it a massive square day bed. We all squeeze in there to watch movies together.
- One quick tip – Rotate who picks the movie every week. This gives both the adults and children the chance to watch their favorite movies.
- Ensure that each movie is appropriate for the entire family by setting a few guidelines on choosing the movie. You get to decide what those guidelines are yourself.

6 – Create a pizza and game night.
I think most parents appreciate a night off cooking and pizza is a great alternative treat (one of my favorites!)
- Pizza and game night can be a fun way to bring your entire family together. You can do this ritual once a week or once a month. Adjust the frequency to fit your schedule.
- Games are also a simple way to reconnect with your loved ones, and they can fill an entire evening with laughter.
We have the biggest collection of games at my house and playing these games is always fun.
My favorites include: Scrabble, Blockus, Cluedo, Rummikub, Articulate, Sequence and card games like Phase 10 and Sleeping Queens.
In a nutshell, you can help your family bond by creating simple routines and rituals.
These routines don’t have to be complicated – they can seriously be so simple – and they can quickly become family traditions that create cherished memories which last a lifetime.
Wishing you the best of luck with creating these routines for your own family.
