Good Questions To Ask – 7 Questions To FREE Up Your Time

Want some good questions to ask yourself? Here are 7 best questions that will help you free up your time with ease.

Let’s chat about good questions.

If you have been around me or this website for a while then you know I LOVE QUESTIONS. Questions are such a great way to dig to the heart of the matter for all areas of our life.

The truth is this: we do have too many priorities in life and not enough time to do them all justice.

But here’s the thing: I’m about to share with you a novel way to create more free time in your life by asking yourself a few questions.

Questions are powerful, because they focus your attention and generate solutions.

You just have to ask your brain the right questions!

So, if you want to free up more time for yourself, you can ask yourself these questions today:

GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK

1 – What are my three greatest distractions?

The most common distractions and time wasters are often electronic in nature. Am I right?

Is this the case for you?

Your cell phone, laptop, and the television can leave you wondering where the time went.

Surprise, surprise, it got sucked down the rabbit hole of social media and mindless apps.

Other distractions might include an annoying neighbor, an organization that requires too much of your time, or frequent headaches.

  • Think of ways now to eliminate or minimize these distractions and spend your time in a more meaningful way.

2 – Am I making the best use of the free time I already have available?

When you do have free time, how do you use it?

Consider both the small blocks of time you have available throughout the day and the larger segments of time that you have free.

Do you recognize where these pockets of time are?

  • If you’re waiting for a meeting to start, how do you use that time?

  • Are you using your time in the car as productively as possible? You could use the time to make phone calls or listen to podcasts or courses.

  • Examine all the spare time you have each day and resolve to use it more productively.

3 – What are the three greatest distractions I have at work?

For me my distractions may look different from yours as I work from home.

I often get distracted by laundry and chores that need to be done, even though they don’t need to be done necessarily in my work hours.

For you, if you work in an office, an overly chatty cubicle mate might be neutralized with headphones.

You can also turn off the ringer or notifications on your phone.

Think of the distractions you face and create viable solutions to counteract those issues.

4 – What are my priorities? Make a list of your work and personal priorities.

You can’t focus your time if you’re unaware of your priorities.

Do you even know what they are?

Do you know what is most important to you in life?

Do you know what is the biggest priority for you to focus on each day?

You can focus your attention by reminding yourself of your priorities each day.

5 – What are the optional activities in my life?

Make a list of everything you do in your life that’s optional – from watching TV to playing softball on the weekends.

Yes, those things are optional!

Sure, some of those activities add to your life in meaningful ways, while others do not.

The truth is an optional activity isn’t something that your life depends on.

That is, your life wouldn’t fall apart if you missed out on that activity for a bit.

So, which of those activities are you willing to give up to create more space in your life?

GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK

6 – How can I simplify my life?

How many blogs, magazine subscriptions, and podcasts do you follow?

Is it too many? Are they all worth the time?

  • Another question: how often do you check your email? Is that more often than necessary?

  • Can you hire someone maybe to mow your grass or clean your home?

  • Can you get rid of a few possessions that are taking up time and space in your life?

GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK

7 – What would I do if I had more free time?

Now for the final question:

How would you spend that time if you had some bonus hours up for sleeve?

With whom would you spend it?

If you can identify how you want to spend your free time, you might become more motivated to create more free time in your life. I mean, we would all like extra time to spend however we wish right?

All in all, these questions are worth exploring, especially if you feel like you are lacking enough time to enjoy your life.

It’s time to set priorities and reduce distractions and timewasters and give ourselves the gift of precious time.
