A Jar Of Happiness – 6 Things You Need To Be Truly Happy
Looking for a jar of happiness? Here are the 6 keys to happiness that will dramatically increase your happiness levels in life.
Let’s chat about a jar of happiness.
Have you ever wondered what you really, really need to be happy?
In your head, what are the requirements you feel are important for happiness?
Is it a big house?
A great career?
The freedom to do whatever you want?
Now of course, the definition for happiness will vary from one person to another.
This is normal.
However researchers have found there are a few qualities that are common to most happy people (and guess what? These things AREN’T material things.)
Take a look now to see the 6 most common qualities found in happy people. If you would love to add more happiness to your life, consider embracing these qualities.

A JAR OF HAPPINESS
1 – Relatively few things that detract from your happiness
It’s easier to be happy if there are only a few things to prevent you from being happy.
Just like it’s easier to get from Point A to Point B if there are few obstacles in your way.
- A good first step for increasing the amount of happiness in your life is to remove as many things as you can from your life that are making you unhappy. How obvious is that right?
- You also don’t actually need a lot in order to feel happy, if you can minimize those things that detract from your happiness. If you feel like your requirement list for happiness is super long, there may be in fact be a few things in your life detracting from attaining this goal.

2 – Control
You’ll struggle to be happy if you believe that you don’t have control over your life.
You need to control the things you can control.
People that feel powerless also tend to be unhappy.
Regardless of your situation, there are things you could be controlling in your life but aren’t.
- Strive to build a life that gives you as much control as possible. For example, having financial resources provides a lot of control. That is something you have control over.
- Having a good social circle also provides a lot of options. That is something you have control over.
- Minimizing your dependence on others also gives you more control over your life. And that is something you have control over!
- Final tip: you cannot always control what goes on outside. I repeat, you may not be able to control every situation and its outcome BUT you can always control what goes on inside – your attitude and how you deal with it. Control yourself or someone else will control you.

3 – Progress
Happy people always strive to make progress in their lives.
When you have a goal and make progress toward that goal, you’re going to feel pretty good about it, right?
And a little progress each day adds up to big results (even slow progress is better than no progress at all)
- FYI: Life is dull and predictable when everything stays the same.
- Life feels pretty crappy in fact when you’re losing ground or feel like you aren’t moving forward in life. If you set a few goals and take active steps to achieve them, you will inevitably feel happier.
Activity without purpose is the drain of your life. Tony Robbins

4 – A purpose
Having a purpose increases the amount of meaning in your life.
In fact it gives your life meaning.
But for whatever reason, the average person has never stopped to consider their purpose at all and then they wonder why their life is average.
- Do you fall into this same boat? Do you know what your life purpose is?
- Take the time now to give this some thought? What do you truly believe the purpose of life is? Why were you put here on this Earth? What are you meant to achieve?
- Remember we will all have a different answer to these questions and you are honestly free to choose whatever answer you like.
- All that matters is that you KNOW what your purpose is. Because once you know your purpose, you can begin living with more intention and keep this purpose your main priority in your life.
So what do you want your life to be about?
Once you have this info, make sure to set goals with heart and that are aligned with your life’s purpose.

5 – People
There might be a few people that can truly be happy living a solitary life, but for the most part people are social creatures.
We need and thrive on connecting with other humans in this world.
Now some people do well with a smaller, more intimate social circle.
Others do well with a large social circle.
But, it’s hard to be truly happy when you’re all alone or without forming some type of meaningful relationships, whether it’s with friends or family.
If this is missing in your life, it’s worth the time to work on that part of your life.

6 – Feeling needed
The best feeling is the world is knowing that your presence and absence both mean something to someone.
Thankfully there are many ways to feel needed.
Having children, volunteering, or even owning a pet are all great ways that make you feel like you are adding value to another person’s life.
When you feel needed, and you’re able to fulfill those needs, the level of happiness you experience in your life will infinitely increase.
