How To Stop Caring – 7 Things You Should Care Less About
Want to know how to stop caring? Here are 7 things you should care less about if you want to be happy in life and WHY.
Want to know how to stop caring?
Here’s the truth about life: some things are worthy of your attention and concern.
Others are not.
When you spend too much mental energy on the wrong things can move you further away from happiness and contentment.
Making these things that DON’T TRULY MATTER a priority isn’t just a waste of time.
It creates unnecessary challenges in life.
So ask yourself now:
Do you spend your time caring about the things that can make a positive difference?
Are you sure? Let’s find out!

Most people care too much about the following things:
HOW TO STOP CARING
TIP # 1 – The opinions of others
Do you choose clothes you like or clothes that you think others like?
When you chose your last car, did you consider how others would judge you if you drive around in that car?
Worrying about the opinions of others can make you miserable and cause you to do and say things that don’t match your values.
The most important cage you can free yourself from is the one in which you care what others think of you.
The less you care about what others think, the better your life will become. Honestly not caring what other people think is the best choice you will ever make.
As you care less about what people think of you, you will care more about what others think of themselves. Stephen Covey

TIP # 2 – Possessions
There’s nothing wrong with material possessions – the fact is we need lots of them to survive in this world – but it can be a problem when they become an obsession.
You’ll never be happy just because you got a nicer car or a bigger house.
Do you know why?
It’s because true happiness and contentment comes from WITHIN and isn’t based on anything you have in this world.
You can have all the possessions you like but avoid making them a priority in your life. Do not allow your possessions to possess you.
Trying to satisfy one’s desires with possessions is like putting out a fire with straw. Confucius
What you possess in the world will be found at the day of your death to belong to someone else. But what you are will be yours forever. Henry Van Dyke
Happiness is not a possession to be prized; it is a quality of thought, a state of mind. Daphne du Maurier

TIP # 3 – Wealth
Wealth is another thing some people get obsessed with having.
Technically this isn’t a terrible thing to desire to have more of in your life – you can have as much money as you like! Just avoid making MONEY the most important thing in your life.
The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all of your money.
Would your life still have meaning if you had zero dollars? Would you survive?
When wealth is lost, nothing is lost. When health is lost, something is lost. When character is lost, all is lost. Billy Graham
All in all pursuing wealth at any cost is a recipe for misery and disaster.
That’s because it’s not the man who has too little but the man who always crave more who is poor.
Many people make themselves unhappy by making wealth too big of a priority.
Ensure you have enough with a comfortable cushion.
Be willing to have more but avoid putting too much mental energy into it.
The true definition of wealth is not having more money but the ability to fully experience life.

TIP # 4 – The past
News alert: the past is done and dusted. It’s over forever.
Sure, maybe you messed up.
You did and said things you wish you hadn’t.
You wasted golden opportunities.
You have regrets.
Join the club.
The past is riddled with pain and disappointment.
Examine it and learn from it. Then push on.
There’s a whole life waiting for you.
Your past is just a story. And once you realize this it has no power over you. Chuck Palahniuk
You can’t master your future if you’re a slave to your past. Unknown
You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one.
If you don’t leave your past in the past, it will destroy your future. Live for what today has to offer, not what yesterday has taken away.

TIP # 5 – Failure
Caring too much about failure will keep you stuck in a job or relationship that you don’t like.
It will prevent you from doing the things you really want to do because you are too scared to make any mistakes.
It’s a trick that your ego is playing on you.
Failure doesn’t really matter!
Use the logical part of your brain and overrule this mentality.
If you fear failure, you avoid success and happiness.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. Henry Ford
Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaken. Failure is delay, not defeat. Failure is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Denis Waitley
Every failure is a lesson. If you are not willing to fail, you are not ready to succeed.
If you learn from defeat, you haven’t really lost. Zig Ziglar

TIP # 6 – Society’s values
It might be true that a 3-bedroom ranch, a pleasant spouse, two kids, and 9-to-5 is the right path for some.
But that doesn’t mean that it’s the right path for you.
If you want to impress those around you, you might be tempted to follow this basic recipe for life.
You might even choose it because you don’t have the courage to choose something else.
- I encourage you instead to choose your own path.
- Otherwise you’ll be stuck with what society or your parents or friends think is the norm.
- Take the time to define your own path otherwise the world will define it for you.
Be bold enough to choose your own path and strong enough to follow it.
By choosing your own path you are choosing your destination and destiny.
You have to choose your own destiny. You have to choose your own path in life. Lailah Gifty Akita
Understand that the right to choose your own path is a sacred privilege. Use it. Dwell in possibility. Oprah Winfrey
I will not follow where the path may lead but I will go where there is no path and I will leave a trail. Muriel Strode

TIP # 7 – Your shortcomings
Why oh why do we worry about our shortcomings?
In all honesty we should fix the ones that can be fixed and forget about the ones you can’t do anything about.
What other choice do you have?
You’re already good enough to do just about anything you want to do.
Just get busy doing it instead of constantly looking for an excuse.
You are love just for being who you are, just for existing. You don’t have to do anything to earn it. Your shortcomings, your lack of self-esteem, physical perfection or social or economic success – none of that matters. No one can take this love away from you, and it will always be there. Ram Dass
