Personal Coaching – Why Even Life Coaches Need A Life Coach
If you’re looking for personal coaching, here’s what you need to know and why even life coaches need a life coach.
Let’s chat about personal coaching.
If you’re looking for personal coaching, I want to chat about both this and why even life coaches need a life coach.
Over the last few months I have been chatting about life coaching as I have just relaunched my 1:1 private coaching program called The Dreaming To Doing Coaching Experience.
PERSONAL COACHING
Now you may be thinking that only a select group of people in this world would benefit from life coaching…
That this service is a tool reserved only for people who are already successful or know exactly what they want out of life.
But I’m here to tell you that there isn’t a person in this world that wouldn’t benefit from having someone to check in with every week, to make sure they are taking purposeful actions towards their goals, and to help them really unravel all the mind drama that totally normal human beings experience.
Because even though I have a degree in psychology and have studied personal development in depth for the last few decades that doesn’t mean that I don’t ever stumble, that I don’t ever face fear or don’t ever experience negative emotions such as overwhelm, confusion, stress and doubt or that I also wouldn’t ever benefit from the outside perspective of someone who is able to see things that I may not be able to see.
PERSONAL COACHING
Because we all still sometimes get stuck in our own stories, stories that feel really real and true for us.
But it’s only when someone who genuinely wants the best in us points out what is obvious to them but not so obvious to us. Or maybe some thoughts and actions that are potentially holding us back that we can course correct, have those breakthroughs or lightbulb moments and ultimately move in a different direction, that will get us to our goals in a quicker way.
Now I know for myself, as a coach, my goal has always been to help my clients set and work towards big goals that are inspiring and challenging in a way that stretches them but not so much that they break.
Hopefully this concept makes sense to you but I always ask them: what is truly possible for you to achieve in the next 3 months, if you take big purposeful actions…
PERSONAL COACHING
We want the goals to be big and stretchy and also not so stretchy that the mere thought of doing it makes you think…oh my gosh that will never, ever happen.
So if someone has a goal to lose weight…of course it’s totally realistic that they could lose 10 kilos in 3 months – that’s a big and stretchy goal yet totally possible and sustainable…
All they would need to do is lose less than one kilo a week for 12 weeks…but a goal of 20 kilos might fill them with so much overwhelm that they couldn’t really get behind it and I as a coach…wouldn’t ever push them to chase a goal that is potentially out of their reach.
Losing that extra ten kilos might be a goal for another 3 month series but to do it all in 3 months is pushing them to an extreme that might set them up ahead of time for failure.
The same goes when it comes to writing a book. I already know that it is possible to finish a draft of a book that is 60,000 words…that would involve a client writing 1K words for a period of 60 days within a 3 month period, allowing them time to think and ponder on new ideas along the way.
But for them to set a goal of having that book published and already making $500 per month might stretch them so much that they break.

PERSONAL COACHING
Once again that could be a goal for the next three months but we always want to set big goals that yes, take us outside our comfort zone and absolutely stretch us but are also humanly possible.
You can find examples of big stretchy goals in every area of our life.
You can set up a new business in the next three months, you can create a new course, train for a half-marathon, potentially save $2000, increase your business revenue by 20%, and so forth…all of that is totally possible with the support and guidance of a life coach.
So let’s come back to this idea that I’m suggesting that even life coaches need a life coach.
The truth is even though we all are totally capable of setting big stretchy goals, not all of us are great at pushing ourselves the little bit extra required to achieve those goals, myself included.
I’m going to use myself as a example here….even though for the last few years I have for the most part invested in coaching of some form…there have been times when I have stopped for a while, just to have a break, I thought….it’s all good I know exactly what I need to do to achieve my goals.
The truth is I am an insanely productive person.
I can set myself a list of tasks to be done and I will make sure that rain, hail or shine I get whatever needs to be completed before the end of each week.
PERSONAL COACHING
But here’s what I’ve noticed happens whenever I haven’t had a coach to point it out to me.
The tasks I set on my list whenever I’m not partnering with a coach are a little easier, they don’t really take me too much outside my comfort zone, I can easily keep myself busy.
But I am actively avoiding ever setting for myself tasks that make me feel really uncomfortable…even though if I was to do those tasks, it would create a bigger impact in my life, they would take me where I need to go so much faster and create new opportunities that would have otherwise not presented themselves in my life.
PERSONAL COACHING
But I don’t like setting those kinds of tasks for myself if I don’t have to.
Yes I’m still doing tasks but I’m doing the easy stuff, doing the stuff that doesn’t really scare me, the stuff that doesn’t take me completely outside my comfort zone.
Let’s compare this now to what my life is like when I am with a life coach.
Sometimes I feel totally freaked out when they tell me what they can see I am actively avoiding.
Then we have a conversation about it: why I am avoiding those tasks that if I just did them, what are the thoughts I’m thinking about those tasks, what feelings come up for me then, and how can I potentially THINK differently about those action tasks so that they feel a little more doable.

PERSONAL COACHING
Even when the fear still pops up for me when I go to take action.
Because I’ve said it so often here on this podcast, fear is a constant companion of mine on this journey of me continuing to step outside my comfort zone . They prod me to consider how can I tap into my faith in those moments, how can I stay strong, who do I need to become in life to be able to do those things I’m avoiding.
That’s why I have benefited so much from having my own life coach, even though I have all the tools required to coach myself.
Because ultimately I am still a human with a human brain.
I’m just like you in that I would sometimes much rather do nothing than do something constructive, I’m just like you in that I sometimes don’t feel like it, I’m just like you in that I need a little prodding to get me moving.
None of this makes me lazy or weak.
It just makes me a totally normal human being, who benefits from having something to support me along the way, to encourage me to take bigger actions when I wouldn’t feel inclined to do it in my own.
And who has a tendency to play small until sometimes points out to me that this is exactly what I’m doing – playing small rather than stepping into the version of myself that I have the potential to be.

PERSONAL COACHING
So it is why even life coaches sometimes need a life coach.
Because just as life coaching greatly accelerates the results for ordinary folk, it does the same for us – it changes our lives as much as it does for you.
Which is why I love it so much – coaching others and getting coached myself without I would never know just how much I am capable of achieving in this world and in this lifetime unless I too was prodded to stretch myself a little further each week.
And to know that I don’t need to feel so scared doing so because I have someone in my corner, supporting and guiding me along the way.
So if life coaching is something that appeals to you, if you too want to experience all the amazing benefits from having someone encourage you to stretch yourself in incredible ways I invite you to check out my 1:1 private coaching program called THE DREAMING TO DOING COACHING EXPERIENCE.
I would be absolutely honored to be your coach, and to help you not just set and reach your amazing goals but to discover what exactly you are capable of during your own precious life here on Earth.
So until next time, much love and as always dream big my friend.
As always you know I love and appreciate you all.
Much love, Frances Vidakovic xxx
