Now I know it isn’t possible to change the world in a month, but do you know what is possible?
It has to do about habits and forming new ones.
Before you write off one month as being too short to be life-changing I want you to consider the fact that you can actually form some really valuable new habits over the next 30 days.
It may not make a difference in the big wide world but it WILL ultimately make a difference in your world.
It has been proven time and time again.You can both drop a negative habit or create a good habit within 30 days.
The only necessary component to this equation is COMMITMENT from you.

So this brings me to my next question. Do you have what it takes?
Actually I don’t even need you to answer that.
Because I KNOW YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!
All you need is this list to provide you with a few different ideas on how to challenge yourself over the next 30 days so here it is!

IDEA # 1 – Try a new recipe every day for 30 days.
You may be thinking – “ooh this is an easy enough challenge to tackle!” but let’s be honest.
This is a tricky challenge for some of us to take on.
That’s because many of us have very ingrained habits about what we eat.
We might have the same thing for breakfast every day.
Or only a couple of different things for lunch.
And maybe even the same 10 different ideas for dinner.
In fact, many of us have been eating the same stuff for years!
Is this the case for you? (Okay I confess, I myself have fallen culprit to the same 10-meal rotation for family dinners).
With this simple challenge I’m encouraging you to try something new.
Pull out the recipe books you have in your kitchen cupboard that you’ve been ignoring for years (we felt so inspired when we first bought them though, right? What in the world happened?)
Go and search these books or the internet for new ideas.
You’re bound to find something you love and a recipe that’s easy enough to master.
YOUR 30 DAY CHALLENGE IDEA: Eat something new each day for a month.

IDEA # 2 – Drink only water for a month.
Okay so this challenge doesn’t even SOUND easy, especially if you’re pretty sure you can’t get through even one day without your morning cafe latte.
But that’s the point of a challenge, right?
This is one challenge that your body will THANK you for!
No alcohol, no coffee and no soft-drinks.
Just one month drinking what your adult body was designed to drink – water.
YOUR 30 DAY CHALLENGE IDEA: Drink no fluids other than water for 30 days.

IDEA # 3 – Give up your news or social media habit.
Oh this is a great challenge to take on!
Most of us would find that we naturally take on this challenge when we are away on holidays.
(And let’s be honest – we couldn’t care less about what’s happening out in the outside world because we’re so so busy relishing the present moment.)
But why not give it a go in your everyday life?
Give your mind a break and detox from all the random or chaotic stuff that’s going on in the outside world and LET IT ALL GO.
Will your life fall apart if you aren’t attached to your phone (news alert – I’ve tested this out and it won’t! In fact you will feel freer and better than ever after a month of no social media or news.)
YOUR 30 DAY CHALLENGE IDEA: Give your mind a break from social media or the news (take your pick!)

IDEA # 4 – Take a cold shower.
Ever since I heard Tony Robbins rave about it at a conference (Tony confessed to waking up and plunging straight into a 57-degree Fahrenheit pool of water every morning) I’ve been curious about this challenge.
Yes, even me – the hater of cold water.
The challenge here is to take a cold shower every day for a month and yes it will be a challenge if you hate cold water like me!
ONE TIP: If you really can’t go the whole way and have a long cold shower I want you to aim for just ONE MINUTE OF COLD WATER.
Rather than starting with a cold shower, I recommend having a hot shower instead and gradually keep turning the temperature down. I promise, it isn’t as terrible as it seems.
It’s surprisingly refreshing and the health benefits are amazing!
YOUR 30 DAY CHALLENGE IDEA: One minute cold shower every day.
30 DAY CHALLENGE IDEAS
IDEA # 5 – Wake up 30 minutes earlier.
The goal of this challenge is to get out of bed 30 minutes earlier every day and do something productive with that extra time.
You might choose to use that time to learn Italian by memorising a few new words (ciao, ciao!) or read a new book that you have been dying to nestle down with.
Other good options include:
- journaling
- going for a walk
- stretching
- visualising
- meditating or
- planning your day.
This is a great opportunity to test the power of having a productive early morning start.
YOUR 30 DAY CHALLENGE IDEA: Set your alarm and rise half an hour earlier every day.

IDEA # 6 – Avoid complaining.
Thirty days without complaining? Can you do it?
Of course you can. Sure it might feel struggle at first if you have a habit of complaining.
But you’ll feel so amazingly great by the end of the month if you decide to ditch this negative habit.
YOUR 30 DAY CHALLENGE IDEA: No more whinging, whining or complaining about anything for the entire month.

IDEA # 7 – Avoid negative thoughts.
How about taking it one step further and skipping all negative thoughts for a month?
Nope this is not an impossible expectation – remember you control the thoughts.
To make this work you need to catch yourself early in the process, and divert any negative thoughts that pop up to more positive ones when they come your way.
Be warned: negative thoughts will still enter your brain but it’s YOUR JOB in this challenge not to latch onto them.
Let them pass and let them go, without grabbing onto them.
Breaking this one negative habit can honestly make a huge positive difference in your life.

IDEA # 8 – Do something nice for someone each day.
Now it’s time for some random acts of kindness.
You can do 30 things for the same person or for a variety of people.
The choice is yours.
Try to accomplish this anonymously.
You’ll learn just how good it feels to do something for someone else without getting anything in return.

Okay I want your mind to run wild and free with this challenge idea.

Read a play.
Practice public speaking.
Do something new every day and don’t forget – this is a great challenge to combine with waking up earlier.

And no it doesn’t have to be challenging, but you do need to do something physical each day for 30 days.
Think of ways you can enjoy this time.
I personally love to listen to podcasts while going on my morning walk.
You might opt instead to shoot baskets in the driveway one day with your kids or meet a friend for tennis the next.
Take the family for a hike.
Play with your dog.
Just do something active every day for 30 consecutive days.
