Achieving Dreams – Just Follow These 7 Specific Steps
Here are the 7 specific steps for achieving dreams – the secret recipe for success. Follow each baby step to achieve your goal.
Let’s chat about achieving dreams.
When it comes to goals, I’m sure you have heard that being successful is all comes down to setting goals.
SMART goals.
It feels like that term has been around FOREVER.
That is, goals that are specific, measurable, actionable, realistic and time-bound.
The only issue is most people set goals that are none of the above.
Instead, they set goals that are vague, have no specific measure, have zero clear actions, aren’t realistic and don’t have a clear end date defined.
In this post, I want to show you why many people fail to achieve their goals and how to be successful with whatever it is that you want to achieve in your life.

ACHIEVING DREAMS
STEP 1 – What is a goal?
Let’s start by defining what exactly a goal is.
A goal is a target which is achievable in measurable attainable steps.
It is more than just a vague desire or a need that you feel in your body.
A desire or a wish is less tangible and often just fleeting.
You might desire to win the lotto or fly away at a moment’s notice to a private island but how much effort do you really exert to make that happen?
A goal on the other hand is something that you give birth to and eventually has an existence of its own.
It is within your control.
You have the power to bring it to life.
It is clear statement of your intention to work towards a dream that you can clearly envision happening.
A goal is a desire, wish or need that is made achievable by the actions you can actually take.

STEP 2 – How to set a goal?
Setting a goal is a process which starts with an achievable need or desire. First you must decide on the following
What do you want?
Where do you want to be?
Your status, career or qualifications?
A goal can relate to any desire, wish or need you have that is achievable by the actions you can take.
Actions are an important part of the goal-chasing process.
Once you have a bigger goal, you can then break down the goal into small individual steps or actions.
Achievable goals are goals where you can influence their realization and measure your progress towards them.
Achieving long term life changing goals is a process of achieving, step by step, short and medium term actions.

STEP 3 – What actions are required?
If you have a goal, you need to pinpoint what actions will be required to get to that goal.
Because remember goals will require action on your part.
Your first action is always to always write your goals down. You need to actually put pen to paper, in order to give your goals an existence of their own.
I know you may not love that idea of writing down your goal but having a plan is an essential step in achieving your goals.
Without it you will, over time, amend the long-term goal to fit your reality. You will eventually reduce the goal to a wish, and remember what I said about wishes, they only come true by chance.

STEP 4 – Analyze the results
The next step you need to take is to analyze your results so far, and work out in detail how you are going to accomplish each individual goal.
Where are you now?
Where do you want to go?
And what do you need to do to get there?
This means writing a detailed plan of what tangible actions are required to achieve each individual goal.
These actions will then become smaller shorter-term goals that lead to your major longer-term goals.

STEP 5 – What steps do I need to take today?
Honestly this is the best question you can ask yourself each day.
In the morning I want you to ask yourself “What steps do I need to take today?”.
It doesn’t have to be anything massive but doing SOMETHING is always better than doing NOTHING.
By now your big goal should be broken down into little baby steps so check your plan and make sure you take each step every day.
If you discover additional steps that are missing (maybe you overlooked them before – that’s okay) simply add them to the plan.
ACHIEVING DREAMS
STEP 6 – Review your achievements every week and month
The next step is to review your progress for the week on Sunday night.
Check to see what you’ve done and what you may have missed.
After that you can adjust your plan for the next week or month.
Your plan should always take into account what you will do today, tomorrow, this week, next week before the end of the month, in the next 3 months, 6 months…?
Always write down your planned actions and the results you achieve by taking these actions.
ACHIEVING DREAMS
STEP 7 – What if things go wrong?
Well firstly I want you to expect that sometimes things WILL GO WRONG.
This is totally normal.
Goals are difficult because they move you outside your comfort zone to do things differently.
And of course, it’s going to feel uncomfortable outside your comfort zone.
To be successful at achieving your goals you have to be willing to face your own fear of failure and take risks.
There will be setbacks along the way. I want you to expect them because they are going to be part of the process.

ACHIEVING DREAMS
So just to summarise how to achieve your goals:
1 – Be super clear about your goal
2 – Decide what actions are required
3 – Analyze your results and game plan regularly
4 – Each day decide what is an appropriate action step you can take
5 – Review your achievements every week and month
6 – Expect that there will be challenges and obstacles along the way
And that’s it. I wish you the best of luck with your goals!
Much love,
Frances
