Looking for a declutter your home checklist? Here are 200 things you can throw away and declutter with ZERO guilt.
Looking for a declutter your home checklist?
Long before Marie Kondo completely transformed the organization industry with her book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” or Netflix series Tidying up with Marie Kondo, I intuitively understood that sometimes LESS IS MORE.
Even as a teenager, whenever I threw away something I didn’t need or want anymore, I felt a little bit freer, as though a weight was being stripped off my shoulders.
Weird, right?
One would think more material possessions = more happiness, but life often proves that this isn’t the case at all.
In fact, some of my happiest moments in my life stem from a period when I lived overseas with nothing more than a suitcase full of semi-important possessions (by semi-important I mean things like a few bras, undies, a toothbrush and must-have diary.)
Indeed I travelled around Europe for weeks with a tiny backpack weighing less than 5kgs (I’m still not entirely sure how I pulled it off, but I think the fact that it was summer and I was a lot tinier back then helped).
Consider the following quote:
“Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful”
-John Maeda
The goal of this post is to encourage you to GET RIDS OF THINGS THAT ARE SIMPLY CLUTTERING YOUR HOME.
I have listed 200 items that you can freely and confidently get rid of from your home today, without guilt or regret.
Tidy house = tidy mind
Just the same
Cluttered house = cluttered mind
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF IF YOU ARE UMMING AND AHHING ABOUT TOSSING SOMETHING OUT
1 When was the last time I used it?
2 Do I love it?
3 Is it expensive to replace?
4 How often do I use it?
5 Will I TRULY miss it if it’s gone?
Before you toss anything into the rubbish bin, please check to see if the item can first be donated to a homeless shelter, local hospital or any charity that needs just what you no longer need to keep in your home.
So without further ado, here are 200 items you can throw away today – the ultimate declutter your home checklist!
