Losing Weight Mindset – 6 Thoughts That Keep You Fat
Do you have a losing weight mindset? If not, here are 6 thoughts that are most likely keeping you overweight.
Let’s talk about having a losing weight mindset.
Did you know you need the RIGHT mindset for weight loss?
Here are 6 beliefs that are almost definitely keeping you fat (if you have them) and how to ditch them.
Everyone has certain beliefs and habits that dictate their behavior.
We all have them and your chances of success in any undertaking (health and fitness included) are usually measured by this belief in yourself.
Unfortunately, many of these beliefs – if negative – can also keep us from achieving the very thing we desire the most.
Have you ever thought about what your beliefs about food and exercise are?
What do you believe to be true about these things?
Sometimes the only limits we have in life are the LIMITS WE SET FOR OURSELVES.

These beliefs prevent us from taking action or even getting started.
This is because your belief in something in turn creates the actual fact.
Change your beliefs and you will change your thoughts.
Change your thoughts and you will change your habits.
Change your habits and your life opens up to unlimited possibilities.
Are These 6 Beliefs Keeping You From Attaining the Body You Desire?
If any of these statements ring true for you, read on to discover how to counteract their damage:

INCORRECT BELIEF 1 – “I must have everything before I get started.”
You know the routine; you think you have to get new tennis shoes, join a gym, buy new workout clothes, find the perfect diet and more, in order to get healthy. NOT TRUE!
Realize that you don’t need anything special to get started.
You know what food is healthy and what isn’t. Go for a walk. Move your body.
- You can get started today with what you already know. If you need to make changes, you can improve your diet and exercise routine each week.
- Nothing happens and nothing changes, without you first taking action. So start taking action today.

INCORRECT BELIEF 2 – “I’m too out of shape to exercise.”
Lots of heavier people believe this one – they think they have passed the point of no return.
The truth is that exercise is relative and everyone can benefit from doing some exercise.
For some people, exercising might mean running 10 miles.
For others, it might mean walking to the mailbox and back.
Start by working out slowly if your body isn’t used to it. The key is to stress your body slightly and then let it recover.
If you are overweight, focus on the activities that put the least amount of stress on your body, such as swimming and walking.

INCORRECT BELIEF 3 – “I don’t have time to cook.”
Sure, you might say that and then waste 30 minutes rushing to the fast food store to buy some burger and fries or pizza when you COULD have cooked a proper healthy meal in less time than that.
Let me make it clear – good healthy food can be cooked in a minimal amount of time.
A Greek or tuna salad takes only a few minutes to prep.
Grilled chicken or fish on a BBQ – not more than 15 minutes max.
There are plenty of meals that are super healthy to cook that take almost zero attention.
Google 15 minutes meals for more ideas.
You can also throw ingredients into a slow cooker and let the pot cook the meal for you, during the day.
The total time actually spent doing anything is less than a few minutes.
So please don’t use the excuse that you don’t have time to cook!
Freeze extra meals in advance so you are at least prepared for when you “don’t FEEL like cooking (which is a different story altogether)”.

INCORRECT BELIEF 4 – “I’m so out of shape that I’ll never be able get back in shape.”
The previous incorrect belief I mentioned was that you physically COULDN’T exercise because you were out of shape.
But we ditched that belief by acknowledging you COULD start by doing something simple like walking or swimming.
This negative belief is different.
It implies that exercise is a waste of time because you are so far away from having the body you desire.
Now while it’s true that the more out of shape you are, the longer it’s going to take to transform your body that doesn’t mean you will never get back into shape!
NO WAY.
Sure if you do nothing, nothing will change.
But if you work out slowly and improve your fitness every week each week, change is inevitable.
Did you know that if you lose just one pound a week that’s 50 pounds in a year?
Don’t think too far ahead. It’s more important to just focus on this week and this week alone.
If you focus on two years out, you will find it harder to persevere.
Don’t worry about that far in advance for now.
Focus on the present and what you can do TODAY to be healthier.

INCORRECT BELIEF 5 – “I don’t know how to get started.”
Mmm..I’m always a little skeptical when I hear someone say “I don’t know how to get started” but they also happen to be attached to their cell phone.
If you have a cell phone you literally have access to all the information you need at your fingertips.
Seriously, start by googling HOW TO GET STARTED WITH FITNESS
Or google HOW TO GET STARTED WITH EXERCISE IF YOU SUFFER FROM (fill in whatever physical or mental ailment you have).
Read and research for however long you need to but at some time you will need to stop procrastinating and actually TAKE ACTION.
Less thinking, more doing.
If you’re in poor physical shape, nearly anything will be better than doing nothing.
Clean up your diet a little bit.
Move around a little more than you have been.
Once you make an improvement in your habits, your body will respond.
Then you need to change a little more. It’s not necessary to have a complicated routine in order to get started.
- Try this: Replace one ‘bad’ food that you eat regularly with something that you know is healthy. Also add going for a walk to your daily routine.
- Go as slowly as you need to. If you can only walk 5 minutes, that’s fine. Next week you’ll be able to walk 10. Each week improve your diet and increase your activity by just a little bit.

LOSING WEIGHT MINDSET
INCORRECT BELIEF 6 – “It’s too complicated.”
This belief comes from the nutrition and fitness industry, which seems intent on selling us different strategies to lose weight and be healthy.
In reality diet and exercise are both actually very simple unless you’re trying to make the Olympic team.
The secret is this: Eat less, eat well and exercise more.
Don’t be fooled into thinking this knowledge is insufficient. It’s actually golden!
The truth is we often ignore the obvious when it comes to good health and makes things more complicated than they need to be.
So take a look at your beliefs about health and fitness and work out what is stopping your from taking better care of yourself?
Are your beliefs reasonable, or are they just an excuse to maintain your current behavior?
News alert: If you can change your beliefs, you can change your behavior and enjoy better results.
Start eating a little bit better and exercising a little more every day, and before you know it, you’ll have the body you’ve been wanting.
It takes patience and consistency but it will be worth it in the end.
It always seems impossible until it’s done.
