WEIRD THOUGHTS

Weird Thoughts – 10 Crappy Thoughts You Need To Avoid

Hate having weird thoughts? Here are 10 weird thoughts you need to ditch in order to achieve anything in life.

Let’s chat about weird thoughts.

Thoughts that hold you back.

Thoughts that give you grief.

Thoughts that keep you stuck.

Thoughts that you really should consider ditching ASAP.

Thoughts that are impacting your effectiveness when it comes to goal-chasing.

Ditch these thoughts and you will increase your effectiveness.

Now for some bad news.

I know this may hurt to hear but it’s the truth.

The world doesn’t care too much about your intentions or plans.

Seriously, think about it.

You have all sorts of ideas.

You get super excited about your grand visions.

But nothing.

No action.

And the world lets it slide because it already knew that nothing comes out of your best plans if there isn’t any action involved.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

You have to understand that in the end the only thing that counts is: results.

Did you do what you said you would do?

Did you take action?

Were your words just fluff or not?

Can you get things done?

Can you focus on the things that truly matter in your life?

WEIRD THOUGHTS

Sadly, most people fail to take action on the big things… because they are having a tough time with the small stuff.

As you probably have already heard, life is what happens when you have other plans.

Have you noticed yet how quickly time flies?

Don’t be surprised if you constantly put your big dreams on the back burner, that that is EXACTLY WHERE THEY WILL STAY.

Chances are, if you’re like most people, you may be wasting way too much time focused on the petty stuff right in front of you.

You’re sweating over the small stuff.

But each day that passes is a missed opportunity to do the things that truly matter in your life.

You need to readjust your focus because if you’re focused only on the small unimportant stuff, you may find it hard to free up time for the things that truly matter…

This is why so many people struggle.

Their big dreams remain distant because their head is so caught up in the petty stuff.

If you are tired of living below your full potential, listen up.

This post will teach you to become a more effective person by ditching crappy and weird thoughts.

Personal effectiveness means building a system that helps you do more stuff, in less time, and at higher levels of quality.

Do this right and you will be able to free up enough time and motivation to focus on the big projects that will move your life forward.

Here’s the thing – to become a more effective person, you have to have the right mindset.

Unfortunately, it’s too easy to adopt mindsets that trip you up and sabotage your success on your path to optimal effectiveness.

But that’s okay.

You just need to become aware of these obstacles and eliminate them from your life.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

WEIRD THOUGHTS #1:

My potential for achievement is enough

Every human in this world was born with potential.

This is true.

In fact, every individual has the potential to become very wealthy.

Everybody has the potential to excel at one sport or another.

But the problem is, most people never live up to their potential, yet they keep celebrating the fact that they have potential for achievement.

Let this slowly sink in for a moment:

I don’t want you to confuse actual achievement for potential and potential for achievement.

They are two totally different things.

You can’t just coast for the rest of your life, thanks to the realization that you have potential.

Your potential is not going to do you an ounce of good unless you turn it into actual achievement and results.

You need to work on it.

You need to work with it.

Take action.

Practice.

Be consistent.

Never give up.

Potential alone doesn’t mean much without these other things.

WEIRD THOUGHTS #2:

I have achieved stuff in the past, so I can coast through life now

Please remember that your ability to do stuff gradually erodes with time.

I’m not just talking about physical strength here.

I’m talking about mental action as well.

Scientific studies show that just as our physical strength decline over time and with age (if we don’t do anything to upkeep it), so too does our mental abilities.

In fact, your IQ goes down as you get older.

I share this with you only to point out this:

Just because you have achieved certain things in the past doesn’t always mean you will continue to achieve them long into the future.

Of course you could.

But it isn’t guaranteed, especially if you’re not putting in any effort.

Remember it takes more effort to maintain the same results.

Also, you may be required to learn new things in order to produce the same or better results in the future.

This tip is simply to remind you that “coasting” through life won’t always get you the results you want in life.

Just because you were able to get stuff done in the past DOES NOT necessarily mean you will continue to perform at a similar level.

It doesn’t work that way.

You cannot give yourself the luxury of “coasting” through life.

Results instead come from taking action that is aligned with the right thoughts and feelings.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

WEIRD THOUGHTS #3:

I can achieve the same results without having to change

Here’s another thing:

Just because X = Y in the past doesn’t necessarily mean you can get the same results in the future by doing the same things.

Conditions do change.

For new achievements to take place, you may need to:

up-level your skills

be adaptable

embrace a new attitude

do something different.

speak to someone different.

be willing to experiment instead of just assuming.

This means being open to change.

Otherwise, it becomes so easy to think that since you are unable to produce the same results, then there is something wrong with the activity itself.

Or the industry you’re in.

Or your career.

Or other people.

Always blaming something or someone else rather than seeing it could in fact be YOU.

It turns out that the main problem may be your refusal to change and keep up with the times.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

WEIRD THOUGHTS #4:

Success only comes through luck and intuition

A lot of people are under the impression that in order to be successful, they just need to find themselves at the right place, at the right time, doing the right things, with the right people around them.

Maybe this is true for the old golden unicorn.

But for the most part, it’s not true.

Success is a habit.

Even if you are dealt a lousy hand and you’re dealing with an almost impossible situation complete with toxic people, you can still pull out a victory.

How come?

Not because you are:

Relying on your intuition…

Or relying on your gut feeling…

And you’re definitely not relying on getting lucky.

Instead, you’re focusing on the personal success systems that you have built for yourself.

Over time, you have become more adaptable.

You are able to spot opportunities as they present themselves.

You are resilient and have learned to embrace failures.

In other words, you have discovered how to do the right things at the right time to produce a predictable set of results through trial and error.

This is how you can tell truly successful people who may be down on their luck and people who just got lucky.

I’m telling you, if you just rewind history, the lucky ones may not have stayed so lucky until they learned to embrace these success habits too.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

WEIRD THOUGHTS #5:

Achievement comes from moments of enlightenment

A lot of people are under the impression that success should be instant.

That you don’t have to put in the time or pay your dues to become really good at what you’re doing.

They are under the impression that a lucky shooting star will grant them a genius idea and all of a sudden this enlightenment about their work, their career and their industry will  fall into place.

This raw insight is like trying to win the lottery.

Seriously.

You may as well get yourself a lottery ticket because you’re hoping for the same type of result if you’re waiting for a moment of sheer genius to fall into you.

You can have all the raw insights you want…

You can have a genius idea…

But if you don’t know what to do with these ideas…

And you don’t have a system for producing the same type of success day after day, week after week, month after month, then you’re just setting yourself up for a disappointment.

Sure, don’t get me wrong…

Genius ideas are great but it’s what you DO WITH THEM that counts.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

WEIRD THOUGHTS #6:

No matter how hard I try, success is ultimately random

This line of thinking actually concludes with another sentence:

So why try so hard?

If success is random and I have no idea if it will ever happen, what’s the point then of working so hard? Why even try?

I hate to say this, but people who think this way are simply just giving themselves reasons for being lazy.

I know this won’t be popular opinion but it’s half true, right?

Giving up in advance is being lazy.

For the record lazy is defined as unwilling to work or use energy.

But what you need to understand is that people who become successful are not successful 100% of the time.

Instead, they’re successful enough.

Regardless of the conditions and regardless of whatever is going on on the ground, they get up and do the work that needs to be done.

It isn’t random.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

Successful people are able to succeed at a fairly predictable rate.

People who instead do nothing and expect something can’t say the same thing about their results.

For them, maybe things do happen to them randomly.

Sometimes they get lucky, most of the time they don’t.

Truly successful people don’t settle for those odds.

Instead, they have a system where, chances are, they will achieve success more likely than not.

Don’t let your belief in the randomness of success rob you of the motivation you need to learn how to build a personal success system.

WEIRD THOUGHTS #7:

Personal effectiveness is hardwired

People who believe this thought personal effectiveness is hardwired think that some people are just born more effective than others.

Like right out of the womb.

Tada – I’m effective.

Ah no.

Here’s the thing my friend.

Personal effectiveness is something that you learn.

That you practice.

It’s not something that you’re born with or not born with.

Please don’t tell yourself this excuse that you may not be predisposed to being effective or organized.

Once again, this is a skill that you instead learn through practice – consistent practice – over time.

If you aren’t there yet, all this tells you is that you just need to put in a little bit more work and time.

Eventually you will get there.

WEIRD THOUGHTS #8:

Efficiency is not as important as effectiveness

Hey did you know that you can be an efficient failure?

Seriously.

You can take whatever little resources you have and constantly fail over and over again.

That’s efficiency.

Please note however that this is different from being effective.

Effectiveness involves managing the quality of the results you do.

It also directly impacts whether you are able to produce results at all.

So while efficiency is fun, it is more important that you focus on being effective first.

Because if all you focus on is efficiency, it’s very easy to just do the very least to produce barely passable results.

News alert: You can be efficient but NOT EFFECTIVE.

They are not the same thing!

WEIRD THOUGHTS

WEIRD THOUGHTS #9:

I don’t have to build learning systems

Sustainable effectiveness can only come about if you have a system for learning.

A system where you can learn to produce the results you want to produce.

Unfortunately, if you can’t be bothered to put in the time, effort and energy to build such a system, you’re going to have to settle for surface learning.

You’re basically focusing on the tip of the iceberg and nothing more.

This is a serious problem if you really want to become an authority or expert in any kind of field because you haven’t scratched beneath the surface.

To grow you need to be open to learning.

Learning = growth.

You have to put in the time, effort and focus.

This requires sacrifice.

This requires paying your dues over an extended period of time.

This requires a commitment.

All of which you are capable of if you want your goal enough.

WEIRD THOUGHTS #10:

I can’t rely on others to boost my personal effectiveness

Whatever struggles you may currently have with your personal effectiveness is actually acquired through ‘mental inheritance.’

What do I mean by this?

It means you picked it up at some earlier point.

Of course, I’m referring to your parents or family members.

Regardless of whatever habits you may have, you can bet that you have learned it from somewhere.

Habits are not something that you are born with.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

Do yourself a big favor and do your best to learn from people who will help you boost your personal effectiveness.

Just as you can learn from others how to be lazy, unproductive or unimaginative, you can be inspired by other people to really stretch your limits so you can become the most effective person you can be.

Make sure you don’t subscribe to any negative mindsets because if you do, your chances of success are greatly diminished.

This is no time to be in denial.

It’s okay if you have picked up crappy habits in the past.

We all have a few.

Just own up to them and get rid of them.

At the very least, neutralize their impact so they don’t continue to hold you back in life.

OTHER IMPORTANT TIPS:

The world doesn’t care to much about your feelings.

It doesn’t care about your intentions or motivations.

It doesn’t care about any of that.

All it cares about is what it actually sees.

Success and a beautiful life is defined by what you do.

Please understand that results are only possible when you take action.

Everything else is empty talk.

Accordingly, if you live a life you love, you have to do things.

You have to take action.

Success is defined by what you do, not what you dream about, your potential, your hopes and wishes.

Anybody can daydream.

But to actually achieve your dreams, you have to do.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

Similarly, to live a life of purpose, you have to do.

You can’t live a life of purpose doing nothing except hoping and wishing.

Believe it or not, to achieve happiness and joy, you have to do.

You have to take action.

This is a problem for a lot of people because most of us are afraid to take consistent action.

We know we need to take action.

And we can sometimes manage one or two steps.

Unfortunately, we think THAT’S IT! I’VE DONE ENOUGH!

Shower me with rewards now.

But it doesn’t work that way.

We need to keep moving EVEN WHEN WE ARE AFRAID that the road ahead will be long and hard.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

We tend to focus on the obstacles.

But the more we look at the obstacles, the more we lose sight of our ultimate destination.

Keep looking BEYOND THOSE OBSTACLES.

That is the secret.

Remember, if you’re on the road to success or to great riches or wealth, the road or the process changes you.

You have to sacrifice.

You have to change.

You have to let go of certain parts of your personality.

This is painful because most people fear change.

Over time we grow accustomed to doing things a certain way or thinking about things a certain way.

It can feel scary to let go of the things that we are familiar with.

We end up worrying about what we stand to lose.

Focus instead on what you have to gain.

This is it.

This is the path that you’re on.

The way out of this dilemma is to understand that the world rewards action right here, right now.

Not tomorrow, not the day after, not next week, but right here, right now.

Start Now.

If you have a goal, commit to starting now.

I know it may be inconvenient.

Of course – it feels that way to most of us.

You’re probably tempted to hold things off until tomorrow.

However, let me tell you, tomorrow will never come.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

The more you keep saying to yourself there is always a tomorrow, the more you are just postponing your success.

You’re just giving yourself an out.

You’re giving yourself excuse after excuse not to start.

You’re giving into your fear.

Don’t do that.

Resolve to start now.

Of course, you can start at a certain predefined date.

However, regardless of what you’re feeling, when that date comes, you snap into action and start.

Every Baby Step Forward You Take is a Win

A lot of people are under the impression that if they’re looking to boost their personal effectiveness that they have to get out of the gate like some sort of thoroughbred.

Absolutely wrong.

You don’t have to get out of the gate like a champion.

You can take baby steps.

That’s okay.

As long as those steps are consistent, you are making progress.

Always remember that every baby step forward you take is still a step forward. In other words, it’s still a victory.

WEIRD THOUGHTS

Every Failure is a Win in Disguise

Whenever you run into a snag, don’t allow yourself to get emotionally down.

See it as an opportunity.

You get to learn how to fix problems.

More importantly, you learn how to change your personal character to get poised for greater success.

Your failures don’t have to define you.

Your emotional stress doesn’t have to derail your forward progress to eventually victory.

Focus on the big picture and, most importantly, focus on solving problems in the here and now to take you one step closer to your eventual goal.

Understand that sometimes when you go to open the front door, it will be locked.

That’s okay.

That is the cue you need to go through the side door.

If that is sealed off or is unavailable, try the roof or the basement.

Whatever you do, keep trying. Don’t give up until you finally find that door that you can open and step into the life of your dreams.

Wishing you the best of luck,
