How To Be Spontaneous – 6 Tips For More Fun | Less Boring In Life

Want to know how to be spontaneous? Here are the 6 best tips for creating more fun and spontaneity in your life (bye bye boring!)

Let’s chat about how to be spontaneous in life.

Most of us are creatures of habit who like to create routines for ourselves and stick with them.

I totally get it! These routines can be super helpful as they enable us to stay on track and get things done.

However, too much routine can also leave you feeling like there must be something more to life.

You wonder what that “something” is, and how you can add it to your own life.

The secret to less boredom and routine is to add a bit of spontaneity and fun to your life. That’s because the best times in life are usually random, unplanned and completely spontaneous.

Being spontaneous is being able to respond with confidence, calmly trusting that, whatever the outcome, you will have a positive if challenging experience that will lead to greater self-awareness and success. Sylvia Claire

FYI: Becoming more spontaneous will help add fun and adventure to your life and help you keep boredom at bay.

Luckily, there are some easy things you can do to add spontaneity to your life on a regular basis.

Get more out of life by implementing these strategies to become more spontaneous:

HOW TO BE SPONTANEOUS

TIP 1 – Try things that you think you can’t do.

There’s a good chance you may have a few limiting beliefs, most of which stem from your childhood.

Now it’s time to flip the script.

What if you really could do those things you thought you couldn’t do?

Would that please you?

Are you willing to give these things a go?

You may just find a freedom that you never knew you had!

TIP 2 – Look at the world as though you were a child.

Children are naturally curious.

They want to know everything and they want to try everything.

In their heads, they are invincible.

So rather than saying no to everything new why not throw yourself into the unknown just like a child would.

You may just gain a new perspective about life.

TIP 3 – Make small changes to your regular routines.

Being spontaneous doesn’t necessarily mean making massive changes to your life.

Even small changes can lead to unexpected discoveries.

  • You could try taking a different route to work.

For example, if you usually jog a certain route, try taking a different route to see what happens.

Take the scenic route to work or home.

Turn on a different street and see what’s there.

Do something out of its regular order.

When you shake up the routine a bit, it makes you see things differently.

For example, you might want to switch around breakfast and dinner.

Or eat dessert first.

Or add an extra play session with your kids, even if it’s just one short game.

4 – Make random choices.

When it comes to making decisions, try something like a coin flip to decide which option to take.

TIP 5 – Explore new activities.

I can’t even begin to list all the different new things you could try out in your life.

The list is endless!

But here are some simple starting points:

  • Let someone else choose the movie for a change.

  • Explore a place in your city that you’ve never been.

  • Visit your local tourist attractions. It’s likely that, as a resident, you haven’t ever quite embraced your town or city in the same way as a visitor would.

  • Choose a different type of vacation or destination. For example, instead of always going to the beach, go to the mountains. Try a new city or country. If you love cruises, go to the snow for a change.

  • Try a new hobby. Take salsa lessons. Paint a picture. Learn to play a musical instrument. Go to a rodeo. Go abseiling, skydiving. Your options are endless.

TIP 6 – Dare yourself to do something that you’ve been afraid to do.

What is something you have always wanted to do but been too scared to try?

For me it’s scuba diving or for another person it could be something simple like asking an attractive coworker out on a date.

This is where you need to remember this quote: EVERYTHING YOU WANT IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF FEAR.

You need to be willing to step outside your comfort zone.

Not only will taking action you help to conquer your fears, but you’ll also discover new experiences that you can add to your life.

In the end, becoming more spontaneous doesn’t mean that you need to stop making plans or thinking long-term.

This is something you can simply add to your life – like sprinkling a little bit of extra sugar over your dessert.

Leave a little room for slight deviations and take action to do something differently each day.

You don’t always need a plan.

Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go, see what happens and EMBRACE IT.

You’ll be so glad you did, I promise!
