How To Eat More Vegetables – 5 Tips To Be Consistent

Looking for how to eat more vegetables daily? Here are 5 super simple tips to ensure you get your 5 servings in a day.

Let’s chat about how to eat more vegetables.

If you’re looking for info on how to eat more vegetables (because you absolutely need to!) here are 5 secret tips to get your 5 servings in a day.

Most doctors and health professionals will agree: there are no foods that are healthier than vegetables.

For the record: the recommended daily serving of vegetables is 5 SERVINGS A DAY.

Trouble is most people find eating vegetables on a daily basis is challenging.

Think back to when you were a child, slapping the broccoli out of your parent’s hands (for me, I personally hated Brussel sprouts…I was mortified that my parents thought this was appropriate to serve at the dinner table).

If you weren’t into veggies as a kid, it may be a tad harder to get into it as an adult.

Especially now that no one is actually forcing you to eat it (except me, quietly encouraging you towards it…nudge, nudge…)

Here’s the thing though: vegetables are essential to your health.

Let’s break down some of the best ways to motivate yourself to eat more veggies.

TIP # 1 –  Juice Your Veggies

Juicing machines have become very popular in the past couple years for good reason.

Many people don’t like to spend the time to cook and eat their veggies.

So why not juice them in a snap, drink a glass, and get 3-5 servings in a couple gulps?

Juicing your veggies with fruit will help to make the drink taste sweeter and still enable you to get much of the essential nutrients needed for healthy cell maintenance and growth.

Keep in mind that juicing your vegetables limits the amount of fiber that you get from them (unless you leave them using a blender).

TIP # 2 –  Understand They’re Essential

Unless you’re willing to supplement with a multivitamin each day, veggies are essential to your diet.

But why not eat the real deal?

Not only do they provide the bulk of your fiber, but they also contain critical nutrients like vitamins and minerals to balance hormones, enable growth, and strengthen hair, skin, nails, and much more.

They are important sources of many nutrients such as potassium, folic acid, vitamin A and vitamin C.

Skipping your veggies means skipping a great source of low-calorie fuel to help your body maintain growth and performance.

TIP # 3 –  They Reduce Onset of Disease

Many diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes have a treatment option of increasing your intake of fruit and vegetables.

They’re no substitute for medical advice but eating your veggies could be one of the best preventable measures you can take to ensure you are always getting the best spectrum of nutrients for optimal health.

Fruits and vegetables do NOT fight disease. It is their absence that causes disease.

Have fruits and vegetables if you want to lead a fruitful life.

TIP # 4 – Embrace The Endless Variety Of Vegetables

Don’t like broccoli? No worries; either do I!

But there’s an endless variety of vegetables to choose from – beyond the typical staples.

From Asia to North America, vegetables are plentiful at any local supermarket and you can enjoy a different set of vegetables each day, so you’ll never get bored with the same ones.

I personally love raw veggies.

My favorite raw vegetables include:

  • Carrot
  • Celery
  • Cucumber
  • Capsicum / Bell Peppers
  • Leafy Greens, including rocket.
  • Alfalfa sprouts

Then there’s always the option to grill veggies on the BBQ, like:

  • Zucchini
  • Eggplant / Aubergine
  • Corn

It doesn’t matter if you don’t like one sort – just find another that you DO like.

TIP # 5 – They’re Inexpensive So You Can Buy More

On a tight budget?

No problem.

Vegetables are usually the cheapest addition to your grocery list. It’s no wonder many people go vegetarian for this reason.

Research shows that you can save around $1000 a year on groceries by swapping meat products for more veggies.

We’re obviously not saying to take meat out of your diet (the guys in my house LOVE their meat!).

This is a personal choice but if you’re on a budget, vegetables are a very inexpensive and an economically sustainable way to get your calories and nutrients.

At the end of the day, eating more veggies comes down to a personal choice and your own motivation.

If you consider all the health and cost benefits, surely, it makes sense to try to consume more vegetables on a daily basis.

Vegetables are a quick, natural snack, low in calories and high in fiber.

What is not to love about them?

Now that you know vegetables are so important to your health, make sure to incorporate them into your every day diet.

The keywords here are EVERY DAY.
