Prepare For Tomorrow – 13 Things To Do Today to Make Life Easier

Want to know what you should do today to prepare for tomorrow? Here are 13 important things to cross off your list.

Let’s chat about how to prepare for tomorrow.

Are mornings a mad rush at your house? If so join the club! By the time you get everything organized, lunches prepped, kids and yourself sorted and answer texts or emails from the day before, you may feel like you’ve put in a full day before it’s even 9am.

Now for the good news: you CAN make your mornings and days run more smoothly with just a little effort.

Take a look at these suggestions below for ways you can feel more relaxed as you start each day.

8 Ways to Save Time in the Morning

Let me guess: staying on schedule is probably your biggest challenge.

These time-savers will streamline your routine.

TIP # 1 – Plan your schedule.

Maybe you’re trying to cram too much stuff into too few hours.

This is a surefire recipe for stress.

Instead figure out how much time you need for your usual activities.

Then you can calculate where everything can fit into the day COMFORTABLY and when you need to go to bed so you’ll be well rested each day.

TIP # 2 – Organize your space.

Do you know where your keys or gym bag are?

If not it’s time to keep in mind the following mantra – every item has its own space and goes back to its special place.

If you make it a habit to keep essential items in their place this will eliminate the need for searching for items you placed someplace mindlessly (and stressing about not being able to find them).

This is extra stress you don’t need in your life.

TIP # 3 – Check the weather.

Sometimes it pays to be prepared.

Check the weather report the night before so you can plan your outfit accordingly.

Rain and snow may change your plans so double check the forecast before you go to bed so you’ll be ready with rain boots, an umbrella or ice scrapers.

TIP # 4 – Prepare breakfast in advance.

This is such a simple thing you can do to ensure you consume a healthy breakfast (as opposed to feeling rush, rushed and grabbing a donut later on).

Remember breakfast will give you the energy boost you need in the morning and makes it easier to resist snacking on junk food later on.

You can assemble your smoothie ingredients the night before so you can pull them out of the refrigerator ready to go in the morning.

Or boil some eggs and put your cereal box on the counter with your bowl and spoon.

TIP # 5 – Lay out your clothes.

Remember the tip about checking the forecast.

Once you know exactly what the weather will be like, choose an outfit in advance for tomorrow and hang it at the front of your closet or on the back of your bedroom door.

Also consider buying a compact steamer to cut down on ironing time.

TIP # 6 – Simplify your look.

Do you have a complicated skincare or makeup routine?

Think about how many products you use in the morning.

Could you possibly design a simpler skin care and makeup regimen?

For me I stick with washing my face in the shower with a cleanser and moisturizing it once I’m out (too easy).

My makeup routine is also super simple.

I just apply lip gloss to make me feel like I have put in some effort (no half an hour makeup routine for me!).

Also consider a low-maintenance hairstyle.

I like to blow dry my hair straight so it behaves well for the week (and just use dry shampoo in between when necessary).

Too easy.

TIP # 7 – Write notes.

Have something important you need to remember?

Write it down or type it into the notes app on your phone!

I like to jot down reminders for appointments or something I need to pick up from the grocery store, otherwise I will forget.

Save your brain power instead for more important subjects at hand.

TIP # 8 – Shorten your commute if possible (or if you can’t, at least make it fun!).

Studies show that the length of your commute has a dramatic effect on your health and wellbeing.

If you’re looking for a benchmark, the average one-way commute in the U.S. is 25.5 minutes.

Now I know that changing jobs is a big decision, but you may want to explore your options if a long commute is making you feel stressed.

Is there a simpler and quicker way to get to work that you haven’t considered yet?

Maybe it requires you asking if you can start your job an hour earlier if it means you would be beating the crazy morning traffic?

Alternatively you can do what I did (when I had to travel 45 minutes to work and back every day) find a way to make it fun.

I used to listen to inspiring podcasts and audiobook during my drive, which helped to ease the pain when traffic was bad.

5 Ways to Make Mornings More Peaceful

Here are 5 more ways you can stay calm and focused.

Remember it’s really a matter of attitude.

Once that positive intention is set, these tips should help you enjoy your mornings more.

TIP # 9 – Adjust the light.

Did you know that light has a powerful effect on your brain?

This will work in two ways.

1) Darkening your bedroom at night will help you to sleep better so you wake up feeling refreshed and

2) The opposite holds true for waking up.

Exposure to morning sun will help banish grogginess.

TIP # 10 – Meditate before bed.

Meditating or praying before sleep will help your brain unwind and may even give you pleasant dreams.

You can also reinforce these positive feelings by meditating in the morning too.

TIP # 11 – Skip the snooze button.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but hitting the snooze button isn’t the best habit in the world.

One suggestion is place your alarm clock across the room if you’re in the habit of hitting the snooze button.

Those 10 minute fragments of sleep usually leave you feeling worse than if you get out of bed immediately.

TIP # 12 – Play music.

If you haven’t already done so, it’s time to come up with a playlist of songs that make you feel inspired about life.

Spend your evening prepping a playlist of your favorite songs.

This playlist can be changed to match the current mood you are in.

Lively music will give you energy if you are feeling slow to start in the mornings.

Gentle instrumental music will soothe your nerves if you’re nervous about a job interview or business presentation.

Match the music to the sort of mood you wish you embrace for that day ahead.

TIP # 13 – Download a podcast.

Remember how I mentioned I loved listening to podcasts during long drives.

Well you can really do the same at any time of the day.

Maybe you can listen to one as you get ready in the mornings or before you go to bed.

Or put one on if you have time for an early morning or late evening walk.

I find that listening to a podcast stops my mind from going crazy thinking about all the things I need to do.

Instead I stop and just do what needs to be done WHILE listening to a podcast that nurtures my soul or educates my mind.

So if you are looking to see what you can do tonight to make tomorrow morning less stressful, consider implementing any one of these 13 simple strategies.

These tips will at the very least make your initial hours happier and more productive.

Remember starting each morning on a positive note will help you ward off stress and feel calmer all day long.

So it definitely is worth seeing what you can do to start each day off on a good note.
