Daily Struggles Of A Mom – The 12 Biggest Struggles We Face
Are you struggling in life? If so, you aren’t alone! Here’s a comprehensive list of the biggest daily struggles moms face every day.
Let’s chat about daily struggles as a mom (and human!)
First things first, it’s normal to face struggles. In fact, every single mom in this world will face a variety of challenges and struggles on a daily basis, and it’s important to note that experiences can vary widely among individuals.
What to know what these daily struggles look like? I’ve listed here for you the most common challenges that many moms face:
DAILY STRUGGLES OF A MOM
1 – Work-Life Balance:
As a mom you may want or wish you could do it all. But doing it all – juggling every single ball without ever dropping it – can be a massive stretch. This is especially true if you’re a working mom attempting to balance your career responsibilities with your family life.
Moms often find themselves seriously struggling when they attempt to juggle multiple roles, both inside and outside of the home. They don’t have enough time to generously allocate to work AND the kids AND their partner AND their friends AND their personal pursuits etc. Something has to give and it usually feels like it’s their sanity.

2 – Time Management:
The demands of motherhood can be time-consuming. Taking care of kids alone can feel like a full-time job so when you add to the mix: managing household chores, nurturing other relationships, taking time for personal pursuits and other life obligations – this can result in feeling seriously TIME-POOR.

3 – Mom Guilt:
Gosh if you’re a fellow mom, then there’s a good chance you’ve experienced some form of guilt in your life. Moms often feel guilty about not spending enough quality time with their children, missing important events, giving too much or giving too little and not meeting their own self-imposed high standards. This guilt can contribute to further stress and anxiety (which are just more crappy feelings layered on top!)

4 – Isolation and Loneliness:
If you feel isolated or lonely, you are NOT ALONE. Many moms experience feelings of isolation, especially if they are stay-at-home parents or have recently moved to a new location. If this is true for you, building a support system can be crucial.

5 – Financial Pressures:
Well it’s no surprise that money features on this list as it’s one of the top things people stress about in life (FYI: the most common worries about money are debt, lack of job security, or meeting financial obligations).
Managing family finances and providing for the needs of the children can be a major source of stress for many moms, especially if they’re a one-income family. They may also struggle with balancing the budget and planning for the future when their income isn’t as high as they desire it to be.

6 – Health and Self-Care:
We all want to be healthy, right? We all want to feel fit and toned. But how in the world do we find the time to make it happen? These are questions many moms struggle to answer as they do their best to prioritize their own health and self-care (but fail miserably). Finding time for exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate sleep can be particularly challenging, especially when you’re in throes of motherhood.

7 – Comparison and Social Pressure:
When my kids were young, social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook definitely did not dominate my life or the lives of my friends. (My daughter was six when Instagram launched and I don’t think I even had Internet on my phone for a while after).
Fast forward to today and this pervasive need to conform and compare ourselves to others feels very real for most moms. Am I doing enough? Am I doing it right? Am I even good enough? Social media and societal expectations will definitely contribute to feelings of inadequacy when moms compare themselves to others.
If this is something you have fallen prey to please know that striving for an unrealistic standard of perfection will negatively impact your mental well-being.

8 – Parenting Challenges:
Gosh I couldn’t even begin to list all the potential parenting challenges that moms may face on their parenting journey. No joke, there are a million and one possible challenges! This is because each child is unique, and parenting definitely doesn’t come with a one-size-fits-all manual.
Consequently, moms may face a myriad of different parenting challenges on a daily basis, related to discipline, behavior management, and finding the right balance between nurturing and setting boundaries etc.

9 – Coping with Change:
Just when you get used to your newborn being a baby, CHANGE POPS IN TO SAY HELLO and your gorgeous child becomes a toddler. Then when you think “oooh okay I’m the mom of a toddler! they become a pre-schooler, then they become a school kid, then they go off to high school and then they take off to college and then they move out of home etc.
Adjusting to life changes is a big part of being a parent but let’s be honest – it often feels like a struggle. Whenever you have a new baby or send a child off to school or have to deal with the challenges of adolescence, it can be extremely emotionally and mentally taxing for moms.

10 – Relationship Strains:
As if raising kids wasn’t challenging enough, we also have to balance the demands of our family life with maintaining a healthy relationship with a partner. Our biggest struggles when it comes to this? Communication and finding quality time to spend together.

11 – Career Advancement:
If you’re a working mom who wishes to advance in your career, you might struggle with doing so while also fulfilling parenting responsibilities. Striking a balance between professional growth and family commitments can be difficult – this is another normal daily struggle for moms

12 – Lack of Sleep:
Sigh I swear I should have put this on the top of my list. Sleep deprivation is the number one struggle most moms face, particularly during the early years of parenting. Have you ever tried to survive on no sleep?
Let me tell you IT ISN’T FUN and it isn’t sustainable for a long period of time – this is the quickest way to feel like you’re having a mental and physical breakdown. All in all, going without quality sleep can impact your overall sense of well-being and will contribute to feelings of exhaustion.
In the end, I just want to add that it’s normal to experience struggle in life.
These challenges for moms can vary widely, and not every mom will experience the same difficulties. But you do get to decide how you want to approach these supports. You do get to decide how to want to take care of yourself during the tougher days.
You do always have the option to rest. You do have the option to build support systems. You do have the option to embrace self-care practices. Please know that doing the above will help you navigate and overcome these challenges.
I wish you the best of luck, Frances xxx
