100 Mini Goals For 2023 – Quirky Goals For 2023
Let’s chat about your goals for 2023. Here’s an alternative approach you can take for your goals in 2023. You can set 100 mini goals instead!
Let’s chat about your goals for 2023.
This post is for anyone who walks into a New Year feeling like they don’t really know what they want to achieve.
The idea of setting only a few big goals feels slightly overwhelming to them and so they end up setting no goals and we all know what happens when we set zero goals in the New Year.
We often default to just doing the same old stuff which brings us the same old results over the next 365 days. So what I want to suggest to you all is that there is another option you have at hand, an option that will radically change your life one baby step at a time.

GOALS FOR 2023
So let me share with you the impetus for this new fun goal-setting strategy I’m sharing with you. I was recently at the shops doing some Christmas shopping with my daughter when she picked up what looked like the coolest puzzle I have ever seen. It was a 1000 piece puzzle that created the most beautiful picture of the French Rivera.
She reached for it and said she would love to give it a go and then I realised “ooh this is something I would love to try too.”
Now I have to say from the outset that the idea of doing a 1000 piece puzzle from the outset feels slightly overwhelming – like do I really want to spend my time doing that but then because I want 2023 to be all about stretching outside my comfort zone and doing things I have never done before I decided yes, this is something I want to give a go.
If only just once and it doesn’t matter if I never, ever end up doing another 1000 piece puzzle in my life unless of course I absolutely love it.
So I bought myself a puzzle too for myself and this kickstarted this idea of setting little baby goals for the year – 100 baby goals for myself that once I do them I can just tick them off my list and go forth and tackle another bucket list item for 2023.

GOALS FOR 2023
So I want to give you a little bit of background to why something like buying a puzzle and doing it can be super important for us to embrace.
When it comes to life, we so often fall into the same old routine, doing the same old stuff like we have always done- as I mentioned before – and we think we need to make big moves in order to make big changes happen.
But more often than not, it’s the little things we do that radically improve my life. For example, I love this quote by Abraham Lincoln who said And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count.
It’s the life in your years. It makes me think of the little things I do that actually count for a lot of my greatest memories in life. These moments are often short, fleeting, simple to do and yet I hold tight onto them because they were nonetheless super special.

GOALS FOR 2023
Like in 2023 part of my 100 goals list is to play cards with my dad more often – to be specific at least 20 times. I absolutely love playing Croatian card games with my dad like Briskola, Trisetta and Truimph.
Some might say they are Italian card games but really these are card games that I would spend a lot of time playing with my grandfather and friends when I was living in Croatia after I finished university.
We’d play cards during lazy afternoons when there was nothing else to do, we would play cards during summer days at the beach, for me it was the ultimate way to sit down and connect with my family and friends and yet guess what?
Even though I absolutely love playing cards I don’t think I played any more than a handful of times during 2022. Why oh why I have no idea? I mean, it’s fun and so simple to do and yet I completely forgot to pull out my pack of playing cards this entire year.
The same goes to playing Rummikub. It’s seriously my favorite board game to play. When my kids were younger we took a lot of camping trips and this is how we would pass the time with friends…by playing board games like Rummikub and Scrabble and Articulate….I swear I have the best board game collection in the world but once again during 2022 I don’t think I pulled any of these boardgames out of the cupboard. Crazy right?

GOALS FOR 2023
So next year this is part of my 100 mini goals list – I’m going to take my favorite board game out of the cupboard, leave it on the kitchen cupboard.
At least once or twice a week I’m going to convince any willing participant to play with me. Because playing board games is fun for me and why wouldn’t we want to intentionally have more fun in our life?
Other things that you might want to add to your 100 or maybe it’s just 50 mini goals list includes things like movies you have always wanted to watch but never taken the time to do so.
I’m glad this is something that I was conscious about doing this year…like I worked my way through some classics like The Godfather and Taxi Driver this year. I loved these moments of just watching a great film with the people I love the most.
But this is just the beginning for me. Like just last night my son and I were talking about how some people say Die Hard is one of the best Christmas movies ever and guess what? I’ve seriously never watched Die Hard before. Crazy right? So I’m going to add this to my list of mini goals for 2023.

GOALS FOR 2023
Also going on this list will be books I keep meaning to read but putting off. Guys like I’m not kidding – reading a great book is just the best thing ever.
This year in 2022 I’ve read a total of 61 books so far – 20 non-fiction and 41 fiction books and doing this has made my life feel more enjoyable and fun.
Just for the record some of the best books from this list – the books I loved the most include: F The Shoulds – Do The Wants by Tricia Huffman plus The Untethered Soul and The Surrender Experiment by Michael Singer – those were my favorite non-fiction books and as for my fiction best picks, I absolutely loved:
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Rock Paper Scissors
Sometimes I Lie by Alice Sweeney
All the Harry Potter books which yes I read for the first time as a 47 year old
How To Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie
Maybe In Another Life by Tara Jenkins Reid
Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister.

GOALS FOR 2023
I’ve been in a book club for the last ten years and seriously I love nothing more than reading a great book and then getting together with friends to discuss it.
I know all the husbands of the women in this group think we use this book club to just get together and drink wine but I’m not kidding we really do chat about the books we read in depth together.
In addition to playing more games with my family, watching more great movies, reading more great books, there are so many other little goals I’ve added to my 100 Mini Goals list for 2023. Now I have to be transparent here and say this list isn’t complete as yet.
I only just decided to create the list a week ago so it’s a work in progress – I’m going to add to it whenever I think of something new I want to do. But on this list more classes at the gym.
Try some out at least once like the barre class that sounds interesting. But that I’ve been too nervous to go because I’ve never done it before and have no idea what to expect.
But that’s okay. I’m going to try it at least once. I also want to donate another two Kiva loans which is a charity I love to support. Kiva is an organisation that allows people to lend money by way of $25 loans to low-income entrepreneurs and students in 77 countries.

GOALS FOR 2023
I want to visit some tourist attractions here in Sydney Australia that I’ve never visited before. I want to do more random acts of kindness. I want to step more often outside my comfort zone.
I want to say yes more often to things I feel aligned or called to do, even if it means me having to feel a little uncomfortable.
I want to spend more time with my extended family, I want to host more get-togethers, I want to reach out to more friends that I didn’t spend as much time with in 2022 due to certain circumstances.

GOALS FOR 2023
Like for four months this year my father-in-law was in hospital and nursing homes and so much of these months was spent in this little bubble of devoting any spare time I had to visiting him which I’m so grateful that I did because he ended up passing away at the end of August.
But it meant that some of my balls got dropped during that season of my life and those balls were my friendships – friends I used to see all the time, I saw not-so-often during those months and I want to make sure that more time is devoted to nourishing these friendships in 2023.
To be honest I have done my best to cultivate a life that is fairly simple by now. I know what my priorities are: my family, my business, my health and the friends I love the most and that is what my time goes towards. My personal growth is also important to me which is why I know that continuing to stretch myself outside my comfort zone is another priority to me.

GOALS FOR 2023
Which brings me back to this 100 Mini Goals exercise. I don’t want to think that it’s only the big things that matter in life. Because I see the value of the little things – the calls I make to my parents almost daily just to check in and see how they are, the random acts of kindness I try to do often.
The smiling at strangers when they pass me by, the visits to new places, the experiments I do in my biz that often feel very uncomfortable but also teach me something new. This is what life is all about. These little moments add up to something big over time.
So I want to encourage you to come up with your own 100 Mini Goals list for 2023. What are the things you would love to do? What new foods do you want to try? What new or old places do you want to visit?

GOALS FOR 2023
What books do you want to read and what movies do you want to see? Which old friends do you want to reach out to and reconnect with? 2023 is the year to make it happen and it all starts with you writing out this list.
Like I said the things on your list don’t need to be massive or uncomplicated – it can as simple as swimming at a new beach, eating out at a new cafe, wearing something cute from your own closet that you wouldn’t usually wear, staying away from the shops for a week (this is something on my list that I want to try!).
Also skipping meat for a day, sending a message to a friend you haven’t spoken to in years, experimenting with cooking a new meal or dancing on your own one night to your favorite music….the list here could go on and on and on and the fun thing is you can add to your list of 100 Mini Goals as new ideas come to you.
So I challenge you to just write down 10 mini-goals to start with and trust that new mini-goals will come to you over time, maybe every day.
Remember as soon as an idea comes to you WRITE IT DOWN and also remember there’s no rush, you can work on it at your own pace but doing this…constantly stepping outside your comfort zone, creating little memories and pockets of joy every day and having fun along the way THIS IS WHAT MAKES A GREAT LIFE even if you choose not to have any big goals to work towards.
YOUR BIG GOAL CAN JUST BE TO HAVE MORE FUN AND CONNECT MORE DEEPLY WITH YOUR FAVORITE PEOPLE IN 2023. That my friend is a frigging amazing goal to have!
