Tools Of Time Management – 11 Tricks To Create More Time
Want the best tools of time management? Here are 11 quick and simple tips to help add more hours to your day.
Let’s chat about the tools of time management.
Now I know many of us wish we could wave a magic wand and make the day longer but I hate to break it to you – that will never happen. 24 hours is all we have each day.
The good news is there are plenty of things you can do each day to SAVE TIME and USE YOUR TIME MORE WISELY.
Plus you can also maximize what you do accomplish each day with your time which in some ways will ADD HOURS to your day.
News alert – this will require a change in your habits and the tools for time management that you currently use.

But once you see the benefits to be gained and how rewarding they are, you’ll be more motivated to continue down this path I promise!
Follow these tips to add hours to your day and accomplish more:
TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 1 – Put things away when you’re done with them.
Yep, you need to put it away straight away rather than waiting until LATER (one of my least favorite words!)
When you plop things down wherever, you just create more clutter in your environment which makes everything less organized and is emotionally distracting.
You can solve this problem by putting things away when you’re done using them.
Tell yourself that a task isn’t complete until everything is picked up and put away.

TIP # 2 – Do easy things during your least productive hours.
Everyone has a time of day when their physical or mental energy is low.
Do you know when this time is for you?
If so, schedule your easy tasks during these times.
It can be a good time to read emails, file papers, or tidy up.

TIP # 3 – Do your most challenging tasks during your most productive hours.
Likewise, we all have a time of day when our focus and energy are high.
Make sure to identify when this time is for you and then do your most challenging tasks during this period.
TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 4 – Reduce the amount of time spent on low-value activities.
You might be surprised by how much time you spend watching TV, surfing the internet, or texting friends. FYI: often it is a lot!
You can definitely put this time to better use – DO WHAT REALLY NEEDS TO BE DONE INSTEAD OF WASTING THIS PRECIOUS TIME – and consequently add a few more productive hours to your day.
In case the truth bomb hasn’t yet hit – you can never, ever get back wasted time so feel free to reduce the amount of time you spend on low-value activities.

TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 5 – Batch your activities.
Oooh can I say that I absolutely LOVE batching.
I swear this is the secret to my productivity!
The art of batching is really simple – it is the act of grouping similar tasks together so that you do them all at once instead of switching back and forth between the different tasks.
E.G. you answer all of your emails at once or pay all of your bills in one hit twice a month. Remember that it takes time to switch tasks and regain your focus so batching is a more efficient use of your time.
TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 6 – Make use of waiting time.
Once upon a time I used to quietly fume if I got stuck in traffic or had to wait too long for an appointment but I have since learned to use this time to my advantage.
If you’re stuck in traffic, you can make your phone calls then (if you have a bluetooth speaker that allows for it, no touching phone while driving remember!).
Alternatively if you’re waiting at the doctor’s office that could be the perfect time to deal with your emails or bring a book to read.
Waiting for your child to get dressed?
Use that time to clean up the kitchen rather than tapping your feet and growing more annoyed with impatience.
REMEMBER YOU GET TO CHOOSE HOW YOU SPEND THIS WAITING TIME and your only option is NOT that you have to get angry, frustrated or impatient while waiting.

TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 7 – Track your time.
The average person has little idea about how they actually spend their time.
I recommend that you track how you spend your time for a week.
Every 30 minutes record how you spent the last half-hour.
Yes you need to be diligent about this in order to get an accurate reporting on how you use your time.
You can then divide your activities into different categories and see how much time you spend on each.
TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 8 – Get help.
Ask for help if you need it. It is totally okay if you give your spouse or children some tasks to do at home.
Is your mother constantly asking you if she can help?
Give her something to do.
Yes this is fine!
- You can hire someone to mow your grass.
- Hire a cleaning service (this has been a life-changing investment for me!)
- Buy your groceries online and have them delivered.
- Pay someone to run your errands.

TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 9 – Schedule your day.
Make the most of each day by making a schedule and sticking to it.
Decide in advance the most important tasks that need to be done and do those first.
You’ll waste less time and add hours to your day by taking care of the tasks that need your attention the most.
TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 10 – Go to bed earlier.
Most people don’t accomplish a lot in the evening.
You can shorten your evening by going to bed earlier.
Then, you can add hours to your morning by getting up earlier, especially if this is your most productive time of the day.
There are very few high-achievers that don’t get up early every day.
TOOLS OF TIME MANAGEMENT
TIP # 11 – Eliminate distractions.
Phone usage is a massive time-suck so turn off your phone to eliminate the temptation for distractions.
You can also use white noise to drown out distracting sounds when you are working on a task that requires your close attention.
Close all of your computer windows and tabs other than what are needed.
If you can get more accomplished each hour, you’re hypothetically adding more time to your day.
Now I should remind you yet again that the length of a day is fixed.
After sleeping, there are a finite number of hours left.
It’s true that you can’t make the days longer, but you can get more out of each day by spending the time you do have wisely.
Remember life is short and your time is limited.
Get as much out of each day as you can.
The more effective you are at using your time, the more success and free time you’ll enjoy I promise!
