Should have listened when everyone said get a swing. We got a Mammaroo instead and he HATES IT! This thing is gold! We have a possibly Colic 3 month old who cries and cries when we put him down. I absolutely love this swing. This swing is the best baby item we have purchased. Other customers have jokingly called it ‘the nanny’, and I could not agree more. I worked as a daycare teacher and we had many baby swings, but none were even remotely comparable to the snugabear. This swing is a little on the large side, so definitely not something you want to purchase if you plan to move it from room to room, but perfect as a stationary fixture.
People’s main complaint seems to be in regards to the loudness of the motor, which, to be fair, IS loud, but not at all in an obtrusive or annoying way. This is a heavy-duty, solid swing, and I think the sound of the motor is proportionate to the size of the swing itself. In my opinion, I would go so far as to say the rhythm of the motor is almost soothing. There are six speeds to choose from, and while I dont feel that there is a significant difference from one level to the next, we have found that four bars is a happy median – not too slow, not too fast. I love that you can swivel the swing so that the baby is rocked forward to back or side to side. I use the side to side option the most, but I use the front to back when I want him to be able to see out the window.
My son is very entertained by his reflection in the dome, as well as by the rotating owls. There are three different song settings: one for bed time, one for day time, and one for soothing nature sounds. The speaker on the swing is great, and we like to set it at the loudest volume because then we can vacuum, move furniture, cook, etc, without startling him awake. The seat is set at a comfortable recline, and the material is soft and warm and easy to clean. The swing was easy to assemble, the instructions were comprehensive, and it took me about an hour to build, on my own, AND while taking care of my son.
This swing is seriously a LIFE CHANGER. If we could recommend one item to ‘splurge’ on other than the necessities, THIS would be it. This swing gives me the opportunity to put my newborn down long enough to pee, haha, which is AMAZING as the parent of a newborn. I love this swing SO much that we bought one in ‘midnight meadow’ for my best friend who is due in May. Totally worth the five stars! Would absolutely recommend!

I am a new mom, however, first of my friends to start having children. My friends that are now pregnant have been asking me, “What were the top lifesaver items you bought to get you through the first year?”. This my friends, is one of the TOP purchases. I love my “Graco DuetSoothe Swing + Rocker, Winslet”. We have used this swing when baby was irritable and just wanted to be rocked to sleep, when baby had a cold, and just for a nap during the day so that my hands could be free to do some chores!
The main reasons why I love this swing, and why I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it:
1) It plugs into the wall. Seriously, no more batteries to operate swings!! This has been so helpful during the nights when he needed CONSTANT movement to sleep. (Batteries still needed to power vibrating option on chair)
2) I love the swing seat. It has a nice, comfortable “bucket” style that cocoons the little one in safely. I have friends that bought the “Fisher-Price Snugabunny Cradle ‘N Swing (With Smart Swing Technology)”. Nice swing, but comparing the two seats… The seat is just not as nice, it’s at a downward angle and the child doesn’t look comfortable or as safe as in the Graco – even with the harness strapped on.
3) Easy to wash. We have had many, many “explosions” (need I say more?) in the swing. Little man was happy as a clam, meanwhile the seat looked pretty bad. We just took off the infant liner and threw it in the wash (added a little baking soda)- looks great. The main lining on the swing is a little more complicated to remove, especially when soiled, because you have to turn it upside-down. Suggestion- use a towel underneath!
4) Has easy turn axle to alternate swinging side-to-side and front and back. Our baby doesn’t really have a preference, but I have heard stories from my patients in the hospital that they bought a nice swing and the baby didn’t like the direction. They had to then go out and buy a whole new swing. That dilemma can be completely avoided with this swing!
5) The seat can detach and become a rocking vibrating chair. This was helpful when we had our little guy right out of the hospital, we were honestly in the middle of MOVING and only had a few baby items. This was great because it doubled as a bouncing chair and swing all in one. Less to move
with and easy take on and off- you can do it with one hand.
Things that don’t really matter:
1) It can play music/soft noises (ocean, birds, etc.)
2. It has little bears for little man to look at. They don’t move and when he was little, he didn’t seem to care. I now tie little toys to them to extend the toys so he can play with them.
In summary, I highly recommend this swing. It is incredibly soft, comfortable, safe and durable. He loves his swing for naps during the day or if I need a safe place to put him while I take a shower. If I were Oprah, I’d have a giveaway of my favorite things with this at the top of the list. I hope this review was helpful to you in your decision!

I’m one to return many things and I actually was skeptical about this swing especially since the price was out of my range. But, baby goes back and forth to grandparents and Mommy’s home so I needed something portable. I’m so glad I ordered this, it is not like the typical $30-$40 swings you find in Target or Wal-Mart.
It senses baby’s weight and folds very compact to put in your car trunk or back seat. The different speeds in my opinion are slow, medium and freakin fast. My baby is 1 month old and could only fall asleep in a human being’s arms but this.. Oh I witnessed droopy eyes and open mouth on a hot humid day in O’ahu and she completely knocked out. My hub and I were minimalist parents, or so we thought. When our daughter was born, our minimalist aspirations went out the window as we realized we needed to still have a life too. This machine takes up a lot of space in our already pretty crowded living environment so we were highly skeptical after putting it together because it was just this huge thing invading what little space we had left in our living room after the playpen, bassinet, seating chairs, etc. etc. But it was getting more and more difficult after my hub returned to work for me to manage on my own as I have taken a few months off to stay home with her and she gets fussy and needs constant attention that as a new parent, it’s hard to deny her.
Online reviews dubbed this as the “babysitter,” though for me it was a last ditch attempt to try to get some in between time to work on house chores and relax a little. It did not work right away with her. The first ten times (5 day duration) she was put in, she cried and fussed until we picked her up.
Eventually, after a week or so of trying to place her in there- she fully got “used” to it and started to enjoy her experience. She was three weeks old the first time we put her in there. Also, it doesn’t always babysit her for long periods of time, the average time typically is about 20 minutes while the longest time she lasts is usually around 2.5 hours.
She is most comfortable at the lowest two levels, with music helping if she is awake. The overall effect for her is that it helps soothe her for enough time for me to put a load in the washer, or make a meal and eat it. She might cry the first five minutes, but unless there is something wrong- she will stop crying and either go to sleep or self soothe until I can pick her up.
